They're not militants. They're protesters. And those aren't American flags. They appear to be paper. Maybe they're sheets. But if flag underwear and flag costumes aren't flags, hand-painted sheets aren't flags, either.
And, as for "so-called imperialism" -- there's nothing "so-called" about US imperialism.
...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
