Who are "some dems" with this strategy? Fossils, I imagine. The same ones who thought it was a good idea to nominate Joe Biden in 2020, too wrapped in their DC bubble to know the rest of the country was ready for Bernie, or to follow where the public was trying to lead. Hopefully, they will not have the say this time.

1) It's better for them to be taxed than to be beheaded.
2) Mainstream Democrats have been wrong (and mostly useless) for a long time.

The obvious reason is the evangelicals he told to vote for him in 2024 and they'd never have to vote again, just in case he can't, for some reason, cancel the 2026 and 2028 elections.
