"May be"

It wouldn't surprise me if Trump holds onto her simply because this was reported in the NYT.

And maybe, he's getting rid of all the women.

This one, I think, is quite likely.

I couldn't think why Bondi, though, because she sucks up to him constantly and is a hateful human being.

This is how the Times reports it:

President Trump has discussed firing Attorney General Pam Bondi in recent days as he grows frustrated with her leadership at the Justice Department and her handling of the Epstein files, according to four people familiar with the conversations.

Mr. Trump has floated the idea of replacing Ms. Bondi with Lee Zeldin, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, the people said.

[...]

Ms. Bondi’s allies pointed to photos of her and the president traveling to the Supreme Court on Wednesday to dispute the notion that the president is planning to fire her.

“Attorney General Pam Bondi is a wonderful person and she is doing a good job,” Mr. Trump said in a statement to The New York Times.

[...]

But the president has been souring on Ms. Bondi for months. Among his top complaints is Ms. Bondi’s handling of the Epstein files, which has become a political liability for Mr. Trump among his supporters.

  NYT
What does he want her to do with them? Destroy them?
He has also complained about her shortcomings as a communicator and vented about what he sees as the department’s lack of aggressiveness in going after his foes.
Is Stephen Miller available?

Pam is scheduled for House Oversight subpoenaed testimony April 14. We'll see if it happens, and if it does, whether she does anything other than she's done before: snipe and snarl.

UPDATE 03:26 pm:  D'oh!

Good riddance.  Who's next?  Some other asshole.  Lee Zeldin?

Nope.  At least for now:  Her awful assistant and ex-Trump personal attorney Todd Blanche.

Well, Bondi won't be having to testify again.  Update: Rep. Robert Garcia says, no, she will absolutely still have to testify.

Alan Dershowitz continues to befoul his foul reputation

Alan Dershowitz is in the Epstein files. And not just for being Epstein's attorney. And not in a benign way.

Jeffrey Epstein’s attorney Alan Dershowitz made an eyebrow-raising excuse for why he couldn’t have made defamatory social media posts about his client’s victims.

The lawyer, who also represented Donald Trump and O.J. Simpson, told a fact-checker for an unnamed outlet that he did not use a computer, according to newly uncovered documents from the Epstein files dump.

The documents suggest that Dershowitz, a Harvard professor, and Epstein were both the subject of lengthy and in-depth reporting.

[...]

Dershowitz, now 87, was also directly asked if he had had sex with an unnamed Epstein victim immediately after the pedophile financier, which he emphatically denied.

[...]

Dershowitz has faced his own accusations from Epstein accusers. The late Virginia Giuffre Roberts maintained that she was trafficked by Dershowitz between 2000 and 2002. Dershowitz has repeatedly denied her claim.

  Daily Beast
He's old enough he probably expects he won't ever have to go to trial for it. So, he should be one of the first to be investigated when we finally start holding people to account.
In 2006, Dershowitz was revealed to have provided prosecutors in Florida with information that was intended to discredit several women and girls who had accused Epstein of sex crimes. He took posts made by some accusers from their MySpace accounts, in which they were seen using drugs and alcohol, and attempted to use those posts to discredit them.

[...]

Dershowitz has previously told CNN that he did not own a computer when confronted with the allegation that he used social media to discredit the victims.
I bet he has a smart phone. And an assistant who owns a computer.
Dershowitz’s use of MySpace to discredit accusers came two years before then-U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida Alexander Acosta, who later became President Trump’s Secretary of Labor in his first term, awarded Epstein what has become known as a “sweetheart deal.”

Epstein pleaded guilty to lesser state-level solicitation of underage prostitution charges to avoid federal sex trafficking charges.
And, while we're on the subject of attorneys covering for Epstein...
Before joining the Trump administration, [AG Pam] Bondi, who represented Trump during his first impeachment proceedings in 2019, served as Florida’s first female attorney general.

The Palm Beach Post asked the question: “Should Bondi have looked into Epstein's crimes between the time of his jail release in 2009 and the filing of the criminal charges in 2019, when many have alleged that he sexually assaulted hundreds more?”

[...]

Authorities in Palm Beach started investigating Epstein in Florida in 2005. A grand jury charged him with one count of solicitation of prostitution in 2006 as accounts of sexual abuse from his island mansion began to come to light.

In 2008, despite an overwhelming amount of evidence, Epstein was given the “deal of the century” that saw him serve 13 months out of an 18-month sentence for only two prostitution-related felonies. He was released in July 2009.

[...]

Bondi would not necessarily have had cause to initiate a new investigation unless someone had specifically brought a case to her attention.

She couldn't bring it to her own attention?

Bondi testifies

 Sort of.

That guy.  I have to wonder what his story is.  Maybe what the question is.

The hearing got testy almost from the start, with Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) telling Bondi: "We ask you politely but firmly, please do not waste one second of our precious time."

Raskin told Bondi to give Democrats direct answers to their questions and not try to evade or run out the clock.

"We saw your performance in the Senate, and we're not going to accept that. This isn't a game," he added, referencing a "burn book" Bondi allegedly used to dredge up opposition research against Democrats.

[...]

The hearing continued to deteriorate from there, with Bondi clashing with nearly every Democrat on the panel with growing hostility.

  Axios
Completely expected. She is a nasty piece of work. And Trump likes that about her. It's exactly the way he behaves.
Asked by Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) how many alleged Epstein co-conspirators the DOJ is pursuing, he and Bondi got into another heated back and forth, with Bondi declaring, "Oh, OK, here we go with these theatrics."

[...]

"Not on our time, no way," Raskin said. "And I told you about that, attorney general, before we started."

"You don't tell me anything, you washed-up, loser lawyer!" Bondi shouted back at Raskin. "You're not even a lawyer."
See what I mean?
Bondi even clashed with Republican Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), a libertarian-minded conservative who has led the charge to release the Epstein files.
Of course. Massie is detested by Trump world precisely because of his stance on the Epstein files.
Massie confronted Bondi over allegations that the DOJ has over-redacted key information in the Epstein files and withheld crucial documents from the public.

"This guy has Trump derangement syndrome, he needs to - you're a failed politician," Bondi responded.

[...]

As Bondi began to respond by referencing a slain Border Patrol agent, Balint shot back, "For goodness' sake, this is pathetic ... this is not a game, secretary."

"I'm attorney general," Bondi responded, with Balint quipping, "My apologies, I couldn't tell."
Ouch.

I'm guessing this is why they're laughing...

UPDATE 05:37 pm:

Not the first time she did this.  At least she did it with a looseleaf notebook.

Gym Jordan has the gavel.  She knows she can get away with it.

This clip fleshes out Balint's comment with her question and Bondi's nasty response.

God, Blondie is SUCH a twat.

Best Super Bowl ad

The only complaint I have with it is that they ask you to send a message to Pam Bondi.  Pam Bondi is the last person to hear the pleas.  She doesn't give a shit about the victims.  She won't lift a finger to help them.

The Tulsi Gabbard-Maduro connection

Norm Ornsteing has reposted Allison Gill's assessment of the Gabbard-Maduro connection to interfere in the 2026 (and beyond) elections. That's a pretty darn good recommendation.
Back in 2020 after losing to Joe Biden, Donald Trump conspired with multiple individuals to overturn the results. There were multiple conspiracies that all failed, leading to his final act of desperation: sending a violent and angry mob to the Capitol to block the certification of the votes.

[...]

But there was another conspiracy afoot that Jack Smith outlined as part of the fraudulent elector scheme: fabricated foreign election interference.

Going back to November and December of 2020, Trump tried furiously to seize voting machines in multiple states. He asked the Department of Justice to seize voting machines, but Bill Barr said he didn’t have the authority, nor was there any evidence of election fraud that would justify it.

Trump then asked the Department of Homeland Security to seize the voting machines, but they also rebuffed his demands. Finally, in a contentious meeting in the Oval Office on December 18th, 2020, Trump floated the idea of the military seizing voting machines. During that meeting, Rudy Giuliani told Trump that they couldn’t involve the Pentagon unless there was proof of foreign election interference.

Another ICE murder in Minneapolis

How many agents were on top of that guy?  And they had to shoot him?

This is the point.  They know they're not going to be held to account, only encouraged.

Yes.

And Democrats just voted to further fund them.

UPDATE 10:09 am:

He won't.  So then what are you prepared to do?

In fact, he probably had a good laugh when he hung up the phone.  He hates Walz.

Sadly, I don't think it's going to happen.  House Democrats just voted with Republicans to give them more money.  (Update: Senate Dems say they will vote no.)

Where are all the brave survivalist warriors with weapons who generally gather to proclaim to the government, "DON'T TREAD ON ME," and who have barricaded themselves into a standoff in the past?

Even if he had a gun, he was in no position to use it.

"Do you hear the people sing? Singing the songs of angry men."

They're like hyenas.  They go as a group to pick off lone prey.

I can't tell if the police are clearing the barricade or putting it up.  (I believe they're putting it up.)

And what's the story with the guy they tackled?  Looks like he was walking away.  Tensions are very high.  Understandably.  ICE needs to get the fuck out of Minneapolis before the lid blows off.  But that's what they want.

UPDATE 02:48 pm:
The man who was shot was ICU nurse Alex Pretti, his parents said. The officer who shot the man is an eight-year Border Patrol veteran, according to federal officials.
  ESPN
What's his name?
It's the third shooting and second death in Minneapolis this month involving a federal agent, sparking persistent protests across the city despite subzero temperatures.

[...]

The NBA has postponed Saturday's game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors in Minneapolis.

[...]

In a statement, the NBA said the game was postponed "to prioritize the safety and security of the Minneapolis community."

The league intends to play the game Sunday at 5:30 p.m. ET. The Warriors and Timberwolves are also scheduled to play again in downtown Minneapolis on Monday night.
How about the Warriors and the Timberwolves refuse to play until ICE is out of Minneapolis? How about some sort of solidarity with citizens - who pay these guys a fortune to watch them frolic - who are being killed by federal goon squads?

Where are all the second amendment fanatics?

"We're not gonna have it."  Not gonna have people organize to protest.  Not gonna have people wear protective gear when they do.

God, this woman is so despicable.  And stupid.

Bride of Chuckie.

Also...

Jesus Christ.

So now it's a white man, they'll pretend at least to investigate.

UPDATE 03:48 pm:

My current US representative, Illinois District 17:

Yes. I've contacted my Senators (Durbin and Duckworth).  Have you?

Still, that wouldn't be enough.  ICE already has already been given more money than the Israeli army!  Can they retract some of that funding?  They need to simply abolish ICE altogether.

UPDATE 04:06 pm:

Well, good.

So sorry to all those murdered, tortured, terrified, and detained in the meantime.

He had a right to carry a gun - Republicans have made that a priority in this country - but how do we even know that gun was his?  Could have been, but it looks like something one of those goons would carry, doesn't it?

Look at this guy come out of the huddle with it.  (Update: see clip from Derek Guy below* - he did have a gun, it was holstered, and it was taken from him before they shot him.)

Why would we believe ANYTHING DHS says?

Amen!

UPDATE 10:08 pm:

Yes, we've seen Chuck wimp out before.

I wonder how many people around the world in countries where the United States has backed brutal dictators are thinking, at last, Americans understand.

UPDATE 01/25/2026:

There's a glaring problem with this:  HE NO LONGER HAD IT WHEN THEY SHOT HIM.

Jesus wept.

UPDATE 01/25/2026 09:25 am:

What they also understand is if by some chance they ARE held accountable, like the J6 insurrectionists and killers, they'll be pardoned by Trump.

UPDATE 01/25/2026:

And when it suits their narrative, they'll be doing this again.

Ten!  What does that tell you?  They stood around a man who'd been put down by a bullet in the back and continued to pump more bullets into him.  Then, according to a physician witness, they stood around counting the bullet holes.

These people WANT to shoot people.  They don't even care if the person is already dead.  They WANT to pump bullets into a human being.

They need to be brought to justice.  Even if Trump does eventually pardon them.

UPDATE 01/27/2026:

He was incredibly brave to go out again and try to stand between Trump's Gestapo and citizens.
