Just NO

Yes, he's far too old.  There are other places for him to serve the greater good.  And also, Clyburn is the reason we had Joe Biden and not Bernie Sanders for president.

These are people who care far more about themselves than the people they are elected to serve.  I hope they lose to a primary challenger.

Who is Jim Clyburn helping?

Why are blacks listening to him?

Clyburn also ensured Joe Biden's win in 2020 with an endorsement.

Clyburn is worried - so is Obama

Rep. James Clyburn said on Sunday that he was “very concerned” about President Joe Biden’s standing with Black voters as the general election nears.

The South Carolina Democrat, making an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” said he had spoken to the president about his fears, which were based around the failure of the White House to translate its legislative accomplishments into positive voter sentiment.

[...]

“This president is keeping his promises,” he added, but “people keep focusing on the one or two things he did not get accomplished.”

[...]

The timing of his comments are notable too, as Biden is set to head to Clyburn’s home state on Monday for a speech at the Mother Emanuel AME Church.

  Politico
Gee, James, if it hadn't been for your pushing Biden on black voters in 2020, we may have had a younger, more progressive president to be looking for a second term in 2024, and one who had black support.
President Biden's principal deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks said Sunday that Biden and former President Obama are "aligned" in their thinking about Biden's re-election campaign.

Fulks' remarks come in response to many high-level Democrats, including Obama, expressing concerns that Biden and his re-election team are too complacent about the threat of losing to former President Trump.

[...]

The latest alarm was sounded Saturday in a leak to The Washington Post about a private meeting in which Obama pointed Biden to a different way to approach his re-election campaign.

[...]

Obama had also pushed Biden to consider moving his political operation outside of — and beyond — his White House advisers.

[...]

Trump continues to dominate polls, both in and out of his party.

[...]

Biden has recently seen some of his lowest approval ratings yet as he bids for another four years in the White House.

[...]

Asked whether the campaign would see Obama's warning as a wake-up call, Fulks said they have "been awake" since Biden announced his re-election campaign and have "put innovative organizing programs in place to begin to communicate with voters on the ground."

  MSN
They should have been communicating with voters on the ground for the past three years.

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.

Out with the old

House Democratic leaders are stepping aside (but not leaving) to allow for a younger generation of leaders. Kudos.
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) and Democratic Whip Jim Clyburn (S.C.) announced Thursday they will remain in Congress next year but won't seek a leadership position, joining Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) who had announced the same decision moments before.

The surprise development clears the way for Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.), the current chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, to jump several rungs up the leadership ladder to replace Pelosi in the next Congress.

  MSN
Jeffries is unopposed to take the Speaker's place, a testament to Pelosi's ability to keep the diverse group of House Democrats together, and their confidence in Jeffries.
Hoyer, a 42-year veteran of Capitol Hill, said he intends to return to the powerful Appropriations Committee - a post he had held before joining leadership - to work on issues including education, health care and efforts to boost domestic manufacturing.
He will if the Republicans don't kick him off.

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.

Coronavirus committee investigation

Representative James Clyburn, a Democrat from the US state of South Carolina, said his coronavirus committee investigators have found evidence of a “political pressure campaign” to “bully” professionals at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in what may have been an attempt to “cripple the nation’s coronavirus response in a misguided effort to achieve herd immunity”.

[...]

Accusing Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar and CDC Director Dr Robert Redfield of stonewalling his investigation, Clyburn issued subpoenas compelling them to turn over reams of documents and emails by December 30.

[...]

[F]or months, the letter alleges, [spokesman Michael Caputo and his researcher, Paul Alexander,] waged a campaign to block or change articles on the COVID-19 pandemic in a CDC publication called the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), which is closely followed by the public health community.

  alJazeera
And hundreds of thousands of people died and are dying. These assholes need to pay a severe price, as does the death cult leader, Donald Trump. Along with Ivanka, Kellyanne, and all the other Trump-protectors.

Leaky, leaky

Senior Trump administration officials in June privately warned seven states about dangerous coronavirus outbreaks that put them in the highest risk "red zone" while publicly dismissing concerns about a second wave of Covid-19, according to White House documents House Democrats released on Monday.

The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis released eight weeks of previously confidential reports obtained from the White House coronavirus task force that Democrats said showed the administration acting over the summer to willfully cover up public health risks for political gain.

[...]

Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.), the subcommittee’s chair, said in a statement [...] “As a result of the president’s failures, more than 58,000 additional Americans have died since the Task Force first started issuing private warnings, and many of the Task Force’s recommendations still have not been implemented.”

[...]

By late June, documents revealed 10 states were in the red zone, and that cases had surged in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. But Pence at the time continued to say that “all 50 states are opening up safely and responsibly.”

By mid-July, 19 states were in the “red zone” and the task force was pleading with them to increase testing. However, Trump repeatedly insisted that the country was testing too much and claimed without evidence that the virus would soon “disappear.”

By early August, the task force document listed 23 states in the red zone — right around the time Trump in an Axios interview brushed off concerns of more than 1,000 people dying per day, saying, “It is what it is."

[...]

Clyburn and the committee are calling on the White House to make such pandemic reports public going forward, saying Americans need to learn the information in real time.

  Politico
And pigs might fly.

The price

Will he?  Is Kamala Harris going to get paid back for endorsing Joe?

If he does it, it better be Stacy Abrams.

The picture looks like Joe is saying, "Ah, gee, you know I'd like to, but..."

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
