Trump did not sit with the Lerner family, the principal owners of the Nationals. A representative for the Lerner family put in a request to MLB to not be put in position to turn down a request from the White House to sit with Trump, according to WUSA.

Donald Trump once claimed he was courted by several major league baseball clubs in his youth but turned them down because they couldn’t offer him enough money. On Sunday, baseball got its revenge.

The President attended Game 5 of the World Series between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros at Nationals Park, a short journey from the White House. When Trump was shown on the video screens in the stadium he was loudly booed by fans. That, perhaps, was predictable: Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon and both Bushes were all booed while attending baseball games as President. What came shortly afterwards was a little more personal in a city that is heavily Democratic as cries of “Lock him up!” rang out, a reference to the chants about Hillary Clinton used at Trump’s rallies in the run-up to the 2016 presidential elections.

Every US president since 1910 has thrown out a ceremonial first-pitch at a baseball game during their time in office. Oh sure.

On Friday, Trump had joked his bullet-proof vest would make it hard to throw out the first pitch. “I don’t know. They gotta dress me up in a lot of heavy armour. I’ll look too heavy. I don’t like that,” he said.

That's more like it. He didn't want pictures of him attempting to throw the ball out on Twitter.

Sunday’s first pitch was instead thrown by Washington DC chef José Andrés, a vocal critic of Trump. Andrés has repeatedly opposed Trump’s immigration policies and his government’s response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

Trump attended the game with his wife, Melania, and several Republican politicians including Lindsey Graham, Matt Gaetz and David Perdue.

Their reward for being good sycophants.

Trump, a first baseman, was a good baseball player in high school. In a 2014 interview at the Economic Club of Washington DC, he claimed: “You know I was recruited, and they all wanted me to go in Major League.”

The stories go that he was scouted by the Phillies and the Red Sox. I find no evidence that either team offered him a place. And all the stories seem to come from the same quote by his high school coach.

P.S. Looks like there were a lot of lefty presidents.  More than I'd expect from the incidence of left-handers in the population (or even in baseball perhaps).  Can we draw any conclusions from that?

Senator Coons may not realize that the people weren't chanting at and booing  the office of the president.  They were chanting at Trump.  Also, he has only himself (and Mike Flynn) to blame.
