Trump's private speech

Somebody filmed Trump's private speech to UN diplomats and invited guests.  Bloomber has the transcript with analysis.  He whines about the Bidens and impeachment, and talks about being president beyond 8 years, of course, but this may be my favorite passage:

And then they talk about me and I didn’t do anything. I don’t know if I’m the most innocent person in the world.

[Audience: chuckling.]

But you know you look at that—most presidential, they always said I’m the most presidential except for possibly Abe Lincoln when he wore the hat. That was tough to beat.

[Audience: laughter.]

Honest Abe, when he wore that hat, that was tough to beat. But I can’t do that, that hat wouldn’t work for me.

[Audience member, male: “Go ahead.”]

Yeah, I have better hair than him.

But Honest Abe was tough to beat. Remember we used to do that during the campaign? They used to say, when I speak, the crowd would be crazy, I’d go crazy—we’d all go crazy. We had a lot of fun together.

We had 25,000—we’ve never had an empty seat. From the day I came down the escalator, with a potential, unbelievable woman, who became our first lady.

[Audience: applause and cheers.]

We’ve never had—they do, the crowds love her, the people love her.

But we’ve never had an empty seat, not one.

And, he gives his white power fans the sign.  He's taling about Adam Schiff:

He’s got a neck about this big. [Holds right hand up in an “OK” sign.]

By the way, our ambassador to the UN is Kelly Craft.  Trump originally appointed her ambassador to Canada, where she spent half of her time away from the embassy*, back in the States.  She also said she believes the science on both sides of the climate change issue.

She's married to a coal executive who reportedly donated more than $2 million to Trump.  Trump talks about (and to) him in this speech more than Kelly.  They're "gold-level" members at Trump hotels.

*Wikipedia: [P]er State Department rules, an ambassador may only spend 26 work days away from a post.^[18] She spent 300 days (more than half of her term) absent from her post.^[24]

The minority staff’s findings are drawn from previously undisclosed documents provided by the State Department and Craft to the full committee following a June 19 hearing.

However, Canadian elected officials have told POLITICO that Craft kept a lower profile than previous ambassadors and often missed diplomatic events because of her extensive travel.

Huh?

If only the interviewer had asked her.  That's what I was wondering:  what "science" against it is she refering to?

Good one.

Sending our best and brightest.  (I'd correct that command of "Englsish" if I'm complaining about hers, though.)  And, I doubt a lack of education is the problem.

Here's an interview she did shortly after being appointed. She doesn't sound terribly weird as far as her "Englsish" goes, but she does say she's going to learn about Canada once she gets there. You'd think an ambassador to a country should know about it before he/she goes, but I know that's pie in the sky and not the way ambassadorships are appointed these days. She surely gave a bunch of money to the Trump campaign. (One thing I'll admit was weird: "Obviously, we're very much into human trafficking." I know that's not what she meant to coney, but maybe it's a hint at the speaking problems the tweet refers to.) She talks like a politician, and she talks like a Trump flunky. No surprise.

So who is she?

Kelly Knight Craft isn’t a first-time diplomat, but her experience in international relations has recently been quite equestrian. Horse breeders in Kentucky have sought thoroughbreds from overseas, so she’s travelled as a delegate of her local chamber of commerce, says one of her colleagues there, and been hosted by the princess of Dubai.

“My sister’s always had an international flare,” says her younger sibling Micah Guilfoil.

Does that explain why she believes "in both sides" - she doesn't really?

Knight Craft studied at the University of Kentucky and earned a Bachelor of Arts. She married David Moross, CEO of a private equity firm, and within one year became mother to Mia Moross, who is now a businesswoman who sells antique jewelry. Knight Craft later had another daughter, Jane Brady Knight, with her second husband, Judd Knight, an orthodontist.

Joseph Craft, her current husband, owns a billion-dollar coal company, Alliance Resource Partners.
