What is an "elegant" exit?  On a path to sending ground troops have anything to do with any kind of exit at all?

"A shame"

Oooh.  Strong words.

War between two nuclear powers could end sooner than you'd like.

Trump called India’s confirmed military operation against Pakistan “a shame” and that he just learned of the news ahead of his Oval Office event Tuesday evening.

  CNN
A shame.
Kashmir Resistance, also known as The Resistance Front (TRF), claimed responsibility for the attack on social media but it has reportedly since walked back that claim, according to multiple local media reports. Pakistan has denied involvement. India has not publicly blamed any group for the attack but has justified its retaliatory moves as a response to Pakistan’s alleged “support for cross-border terrorism.”
Mimicry of American justifications for military operations. Might as well just set the world on fire now.

WWIII, anyone?

The GOP has wanted to take on Iran for decades.  Looks like Dumbfuck may be presenting them their shot.

And, glad he signed it POTUS, in case we thought Elon really is.

Sad news and increased threat of WWIII

Meanwhile, Poland, a NATO member on Ukraine's border, is stepping up assistance.

Meanwhile, Russia steps up the threat to NATO.

And in case we think the US can more directly combat Russia in Ukraine, Iran takes the opportunity to give us another worry.

And the Russian Response...

President Putin “regards the strikes as aggression against a sovereign nation,” his spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, noting that the president believes the strikes were carried out “in violation of international law, and also under an invented pretext.”

[...]

The US has been ignoring the use of chemical weapons by terrorists and this is dramatically aggravating the situation, in Putin’s opinion, his spokesman said.

Russia has suspended the memorandum of understanding on flight safety in Syria with the United States amid the US missile strike on Syria’s Shayrat military airfield, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement.

[...]

The Memorandum on air safety was signed in October 2015, after Russia came to Syria to fight international terrorism at the invitation of the country’s government. The document of understanding was designed to prevent possible mishaps between the Russian and US Air Forces operating independently in the region.

[...]

“Without bothering to investigate anything, the US went forward with a demonstration of force, a military confrontation with a country that is fighting international terrorism,” the Foreign Ministry’s statement reads.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the attack as an example of the “reckless attitude” that has only worsened “existing world issues” and created a “threat to international security.”

[...]

The incident in Idlib was a result of an air raid by Syrian forces, which hit a facility where terrorists produced chemical filled shells for usage in Syria and Iraq, Moscow believes.

“The US pretends it doesn’t get obvious things. It turned a blind eye on terrorist usage of chemical weapons in Iraq, which Baghdad officially reported. It dismissed documented cases of terrorist chemical warfare usage in Aleppo. All this does is abet international terrorism and bolster it,” the statement reads, adding that new terrorist attacks “with weapons of mass destruction” are now to be expected.

[...]

“This reminds us of the 2003 situation, when the US and the UK, along with their allies, intervened in Iraq without approval from the UN Security Council, which was a blatant breach of international law,” Lavrov said.

The US rushed to pin the blame for the chemical warfare incident in Iblib on Syria’s government, but did not bother to provide any evidence for such claims, Lavrov said.

Russia has suspended the flight safety memorandum.  In other words, yes, we could well be in direct combat with Russian forces before this is over.

Coming soon to a theater near you:  WWIII

Come to think of it, aren't we already there?  When you consider that only several countries involved in a war have been considered world wars, what are coalition forces if not the world?

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
