"Nobody"
What I want to know is, did Mike Johnson repeat that on TV?
And what was the GOP leadership's response? Punchbowl doesn't say.President Donald Trump told Speaker Mike Johnson in a private conversation this week that “no one gives a [bleep] about housing,” according to four sources who heard the speaker recount the conversation.
Johnson conveyed the president’s remark during a closed meeting of the GOP leadership and committee chairs on Tuesday. The speaker self-censored Trump’s expletive, sources in the room said.
Well, that was important.

3D-printed community
There's a video clip in the article of the homes being "printed".The world’s first community of 3D-printed zero net energy homes is set to be built in the desert of California’s Coachella Valley.
Sustainable real estate development group Palari has joined forces with construction tech company Mighty Buildings on a $15 million development deal to build a community of 15 3D-printed, eco-friendly homes on a five-acre parcel of land in Rancho Mirage, Calif. — an upscale community near Palm Springs.
[...]
Mighty Buildings says it can manufacture homes twice as quickly with 95 percent less labor hours and ten times less waste than conventional construction with its process.
[...]
The 1,450-square foot, single-story homes will feature a mid-century modern style and have three bedrooms and two bathrooms, along with the option of a secondary residence on the 10,000-square foot property of two bedrooms and one bath.
Each property will have a swimming pool with options for amenities such as cabanas, hot tubs, fire pits and outdoor showers.
All energy needs will be supplied by solar power, and owners will have the option to install Tesla Powerwall batteries and electric vehicle chargers for a “fully integrated electric car-home experience.”
Prices start at $595,000 for a base model and go up to $950,000.

Deconstructing America as fast as they can
They'll probably take it to the Supreme Court, which they've packed. ...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.A federal judge has issued a preliminary injunction to stop the Department of Housing and Urban Development from implementing a rule that would have made it harder to bring discrimination claims under the Fair Housing Act.
The rule, set to take effect Monday, would have required plaintiffs to meet a higher threshold to prove unintentional discrimination, known as disparate impact. The new rule — an update to the agency’s 2013 disparate impact rule — would also have given defendants more leeway to rebut the claims.
[...]
The injunction means HUD will be unable to implement the new rule until the legal challenge is resolved.

Why do you think he's racist?
But he's going to send in US troops to stop the protesting. Freedom from CERTAIN federal regulations.Effective from Tuesday, the Trump administration is replacing an Obama-era rule that sought to end racial segregation and discrimination in American housing.
President Trump says the rollback of the rule, which forced cities to report on housing discrimination in their communities, is to give local governments more freedom from federal regulations.

He's not racist.

For the Love of God
Jesus Wept. She’s arranged tournaments at Trump golf courses, served as the liaison to the Trump family during his presidential campaign, and even arranged Eric Trump’s wedding.
Now President Trump has appointed longtime loyalist Lynne Patton — who has zero housing experience and claims a law degree the school says she never earned — to run the office that oversees federal housing programs in New York.
[...]
Patton’s tight relationship with the Trump clan dates back to 2009, when she began serving as the family’s “event planner.”
“Responsible for organizing, executing and assisting with upscale events and celebrity golf tournaments,” her LinkedIn profile says. “Handle celebrity talent acquisition for various marketing projects, philanthropic events and golf tournaments.”
From 2011 through January, she also helped run the Eric Trump Foundation, a charity that's now under investigation by state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
She also claims on her LinkedIn page to have obtained a juris doctorate degree in 2000 from Quinnipiac University School of Law in Connecticut. Next to the J.D. notation is written (N/A) without explanation.
On Thursday school registrar Jim Benson said Patton attended for two semesters but did not graduate.
She also listed Yale University but HUD officials couldn’t explain why that was there.

Cutting Programs Out of Compassion
Such as military spending.President Trump’s new budget would increase defense spending by $54 billion — while slashing funding for medical research, climate science, public housing, education, aid to the indigent, infrastructure, and many, many other things.
[...]
“When you start looking at places that we reduce spending, one of the questions we asked was, can we really continue to ask a coal miner in West Virginia or a single mom in Detroit to pay for these programs? The answer was no,” [White House’s budget director Mick] Mulvaney told MSNBC’s Morning Joe. “We can ask them to pay for defense, and we will, but we can’t ask them to continue to pay for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.”
[...]
Trump’s proposal cuts many programs that are more intuitively valuable to coal miners in West Virginia — and single mothers in Detroit — than a 10 percent increase in defense spending. The president’s budget cuts funding for early-childhood education, public housing, transit, food assistance, and job training — all programs that disproportionately benefit single mothers in cities with low median incomes. And it also abolishes the Appalachian Regional Commission and Rural Business-Cooperative Service, while shrinking the Labor Department — all moves that disadvantage coal miners.
[...]
The White House is actually arguing that cutting funding for Meals on Wheels is the compassionate thing to do.
[...]
In addition to the cuts already mentioned, Trump’s budget slashes rental assistance and home-energy aid to low-income families.
[...]
“Just to follow-up on that, you were talking about the steel worker in Ohio, coal worker in Pennsylvania, but they may have an elderly mother who depends on the Meals on Wheels program or who may have kids in Head Start,” Acosta said. “Yesterday, or the day before, you described this as a hard-power budget. Is it also a hard-hearted budget?”
“No, I don’t think so,” Mulvaney replied. “I think it’s probably one of the most compassionate things we can do.”
[...]
“You’re only focusing on half of the equation, right? You’re focusing on the recipients of the money. We’re trying to focus on both the recipients of the money and the folks who give us the money in the first place,” Mulvaney explained. “And I think it’s fairly compassionate to go to them and say, ‘Look, we’re not gonna ask you for your hard-earned money, anymore, single mother of two in Detroit … unless we can guarantee to you that that money is actually being used in a proper function.’”

There will be rioting in the streets.
Let's have a show of hands of single mothers as to whether they'd rather pay for Sesame Street and school lunch programs or additional "defense" programs.

It's Gonna Get Worse
But you knew that.

"I don't think so!" What is he, a teenage girl now?
At any rate, do other countries have to ask us before acting on their own currency? Set their tax rates? Develop their military?
I missed that law.
He's going to really piss of China, isn't he?

Yeah, I think I'll pass.

It Was a Good Year for Wall Street
I think some broker just snorted soda out his nose. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 both hit record highs on Thursday while the NASDAQ surged to its highest level in over 13 years. The year-end rally is expected to add a boost to the massive bonuses Wall Street is preparing to hand out this year. The largest Wall Street firms have reportedly set aside more than $91 billion for year-end bonuses.
[...]
Meanwhile, a spinoff of Occupy Wall Street called The Other 98% has launched a petition calling on employees of Chase, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Bank of America to donate their bonuses to the 10 million Americans made homeless by the housing crisis.
[...]
”Bloomberg earlier this year did a study that said that there’s an $83 billion-a-year subsidy coming from the government and flowing into Wall Street. And that comes from the cheap cost of borrowing that they get directly from the Federal Reserve, and it also comes from the fact that the people that loan Wall Street money assume that the government would bail them out again if they ever got into trouble, and so they loan them money at a lower rate than they would to a bank that they don’t see as too big to fail.
[...]
[We proposed they use their bonuses to] fund something called the National Housing Trust Fund for two years. This is a program that was actually created by George Bush in 2008. It’s a program that, if funded at $30 billion for 10 years, could end homelessness in America. But this program has been yet to be funded. And so, we’re saying that Wall Street could take $60 billion out of their bonuses and help get this ball rolling and fund that program for two years.
And then our next suggestion was essentially to take care of the $21 billion in needed repairs to public housing. Right now the federal government only allocates less than $2 billion a year to do these repairs, and so what ends up happening is about 10,000 units of public housing fall out of the inventory every year, so we have less and less affordable housing.”

Surprise!
Yes, and thanks to all those banksters who foreclosed on so many people, leaving empty houses, depressing neighborhood property values to boot.Data on sales of previously owned U.S. homes from 2007 through October this year will be revised down next week because of double counting, indicating a much weaker housing market than previously thought.
[...]
The depressed housing market is one of the key obstacles to strong economic growth and an oversupply of unsold homes on the market continues to stifle the sector.

And CNBC has ranked the “10 most vacant cities.”
10. Kansas City, Missouri
9. Houston, Texas
8. Detroit, Michigan
7. Dayton, Ohio
6. Baton Rouge, Louisiana
5. Atlanta, Georgia
4. Memphis, Tennessee
3. Toledo, Ohio
2. Indianapolis, Indiana
1. Tucson, Arizona
Of course, Tucson has recently had all its immigrants kicked out. Or is that not right?
