The last thing they want is peace

The Bush family is ecstatic.

Also, he says over the next two to three weeks.  Just yesterday (wasn't it?) he said, when asked how long until he ends the war, two weeks.

And, just what the everlasting fuck is this?

Just a brilliant idea.  Any volunteers?

Like so many, the older he gets, the more insane he becomes.

Happy Hassett has a thought

Where do you suggest that person will find a new job, Kevin, what with job creation "lagging" and all?

And he looks so happy about it.

I don't know whether it's happy or smirky, but he always, always talks with that inappropriate look like he's just won the jackpot and can't contain his glee, no matter what he's saying.

Going down

I'm surprised he was allowed to post this on X.

Still a sharp mathematician.

More stock market manipulation?

Will he have withdrawn that by August 7?

Actually, I'm not sure the market pays any attention to his tariff claims any more.

Friday, May 23, 2025

It's all just a game

A game that will destroy us.

Batshit crazy like a fox.  Market manipulation to his benefit.  Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Trump 2.0 - Don't look now

Everything with him is it's not being truly reflected; wait 2 weeks, 6 months, whatever. Things are great.

Bullies will back down

Ooops.   Trump is considering slashing China tariffs.

Quick, buy some stock.

The only question is: What will be his spin to declare he won the trade war with China?

When will the markets stop paying attention?

 Hopefully sooner than later.

Donald Trump says Chinese-made smartphones and other electronics will not be exempt from tariffs - adding they are simply moving into a different levy "bucket".

European stock markets bounced up on Monday morning after Friday's official announcement that some of these products would escape levies of up to 145%.

China has called on Donald Trump to "completely cancel" his tariffs regime, and "return to the right path of mutual respect".

  BBC
Seriously? They've met Trump.
However US officials said on Sunday that products would be subject to a "semiconductor tariff" instead, with Trump expected to reveal more details later.
In two weeks?
He said he would provide an update on Monday about semiconductor duties.
Today, then.

Ooops

And, from The New Republic:
“In the last few days, we have had many conversations with macro fund managers,” wrote Tom Lee, the head of research at the financial analysis firm FSInsights.

“And their concern is that the White House is not acting rationally, but rather on ideology. And some even fear that this may not even be ideology,” Lee continued. “A few have quietly wondered if the President might be insane.”

Lee placed the blame for any economic fallout squarely in Trump’s lap, arguing that Trump’s decisions behind the Resolute Desk lead to a “binary outcome,” though they don’t always make sense.

[...]

"[T]the longer this volatility lasts, the greater the risk the US and the world are getting pushed into a needless recession,” he warned.

Other financial experts, including JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Diamond, have similarly assessed that Trump’s plan has pushed the U.S. to the brink of a recession.

  New Republic
The S&P 500 was down 2.3% early Thursday, a day after surging 9.5% following President Donald Trump ’s decision to pause many of his tariffs worldwide. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 685 points, and the Nasdaq composite was down 2.9%.

  Independent UK
China increased its tariffs on US imports to 125 per cent, vowing to ‘fight to the end’ in a trade war that threatens to up-end global supply chains.

The hike, hitting back against Donald Trump's decision to hike duties on Chinese goods to 145 per cent, will come into effect on Saturday.

Reacting to the news, the US dollar index fell 1.2 per cent to 99.50, marking its lowest level since April 2022.

[...]

Chinese President Xi Jinping made his first public comments on the tariff war on Friday, urging the European Union to join China to “oppose unilateral acts of bullying”.

As quoted by state broadcaster CCTV, he said: “There are no winners in a trade war, and going against the world will only lead to self-isolation.”

  Independent UK
And the European Union is, in fact, working with China.
