Ferguson - Cartoon

Jim Robertson of the Columbia Daily Tribune responds to criticism about the cartoon:

It is accompanied by a Rich Lowry article that begins like this:

Even if the police in Ferguson are the brutal occupying force alleged by the protest - ers there, what do local shop own - ers have to do with it?

In the wake of the police shoot - ing of 18-year-old Michael Brown in disputed circumstances last week, rioters burned down a con - venience store and looted sporting goods and auto supply stores, among other businesses.

This completely unjustifiable lawlessness is waved off by the left as, in the typical cliche, the boiling over of “rage.” We are supposed to believe that the rioters were so deeply hurt by the Brown shooting that they felt compelled to go steal and destroy innocent people’s property and, judging by video of the looting, apparently have a grand time doing it.

I'm the father of two biracial boys myself. All their lives I've fought tirelessly to keep them from racists like you and, to my detriment, I have concluded that I have failed. There are simply too many of you in this world, people, for want of a better word, who are bound and determined to drag African Americans kicking and screaming into the days before the Civil Rights Act of 1964, when Birmingham cops sicced attack dogs on African Americans who peacefully protested for the right to vote without onerous Jim Crow litmus tests.

Sort of like the Ferguson cops who are holding barely-restrained attack dogs before the African American residents of Ferguson.

You need to resign your post immediately after allowing this execrable cartoon to be published in your racist rag.
