Despite good rally, it doesn't seem to be getting better for Joe

Nearly 20 Democrats in Congress have called on President Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 race, with more trickling out by the day. And the group transcends generational and ideological lines in the party.

Most of the members are rank-and-file lawmakers, as Democratic leadership has continued to publicly back the president’s reelection. But the lawmakers calling for Biden to exit the race have extended to top national security Democrats like Reps. Jim Hines (D-Conn.) and Adam Smith (D-Wash.), the ranking members on the Intelligence and Armed Services Committees, respectively.

The majority of them hail from safe districts that the president won by healthy margins in 2020.

The influential youth green group Sunrise Movement is calling on President Joe Biden to drop his reelection bid to “protect” his climate legacy.

[...]

“Another Trump presidency would cause catastrophic and irreversible damage to our climate,” [Sunrise’s Executive Director Aru Shiney-Ajay] said. “After speaking with young people around the country over the last few weeks, I’m concerned that Joe Biden isn’t positioned to mobilize young people and win in November.”

Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont on Friday appeared to become the first Democratic governor to call on President Joe Biden to step aside from the campaign.

Lamont, facing questions from journalists at an event in New Haven, said he was “simpatico” with Rep. Jim Himes, a fellow Democrat from Connecticut who a day earlier called on Biden to drop out.

“I think we’ve come to the same conclusion,” Lamont said.

A group of two dozen former House Democrats has sent a letter to President Joe Biden calling for him to step aside to prevent a GOP takeover of Washington. Instead, they want him to allow for an “open convention” this summer to decide the 2024 ticket.

In their letter, the 24 Democrats — which include former House members and one former senator — make clear that they do not doubt Biden’s “extraordinary record.” But they warn that if the president stays on the ballot, it would mean the party not only loses the White House, but would decimate their ranks in Congress.

I don't know if that's the best way to go, but I'm okay with it. There's be a lot of attention on the Democrats.

I'm not crazy about Kamala, but I'm convinced she could not only handle the job, she could also handle the campaign a thousand times better than Joe.

(Nice jacket.)

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
