Democrats in a pickle

And Joe isn't going to help them out.
“This race is on a trajectory that is very worrisome if you care about the future of this country,” [Democratic Senator Michael] Bennet, who like Biden sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, said. He later added, “We could lose the whole thing, and it’s staggering to me.”

Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) also told Democratic senators at Tuesday’s lunch that he believes the president is in a troubling situation and needs to do more to prove his viability as a candidate, according to a senior Democratic aide who was granted anonymity to discuss the private conversation. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) reportedly did the same — though he repeatedly declined to answer questions from reporters, citing his policy of not talking about what happens in caucus meetings.

Tester and Brown — who are seeking reelection in states Trump carried by significant margins in 2020 — are the party’s two most vulnerable incumbents this fall.

“They have to address the American’s people’s concerns,” Bennet said. “People that I represent from Colorado have deep concerns about whether or not the president can win this race.”

People from every state have those concerns.
Biden campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz issued a statement in response to Bennet’s interview. “This was always going to be a close race — and the dynamics at play are the ones we’ve long anticipated: Voters continue to be deeply concerned by Donald Trump and his harmful agenda, and the more we engage and reach out to voters, the more they support President Biden,” Munoz said.
Head in the sand.
Democrats want Biden to get serious about the Empire State as they warn of the existential crisis to democracy posed by Trump’s potential return to the White House, according to interviews with 10 Democratic Party officials, consultants and political leaders.

Elected officials [in New York], union leaders and political consultants are panicking over polls showing a steady erosion of Biden’s support in a state he won by 23 points four years ago. They’re so worried they’ve been trying to convince the Biden team to pour resources into New York to shore up his campaign and boost Democrats running in a half-dozen swing districts that could determine control of the House.

Biden aides have not focused on New York, committing no significant resources to a state where they expect the president to easily win all 28 electoral college votes in November.

But the warning signs are impossible to ignore and have been building over the past year.

  Politico
They are obviously not impossible to ignore. Joe doesn't seem to be having any trouble there.
“We’re still acting like this is a one-party state, which for pretty much 20, 25 years it has been,” Democratic Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine said. “I truly believe we’re a battleground state now.”
Thanks, Obama. I mean, Biden.
“The money that needs to be spent here will be subtracted from other areas he’s going to lose,” former Democratic New York Gov. David Paterson said.

Fear among some Democrats has become so heightened that they are advising their party’s candidates to all but disavow Biden on the campaign trail in order to bolster their own candidacies.

“It’s never been more important for a Democratic House member to focus on building their own local brand and to run on that,” the person said. “Biden isn’t going to be handing out coattails no matter what. He’s only got anchors.”
Jesus. I recently heard someone say that maybe Biden could ride the coattails of popular Democratic Congressfolk. Jesus.
Spokesperson Jen Goodman said Biden would win because voters in the state don’t want Trump in the White House again.

“Time and again New Yorkers have rejected Donald Trump,” Goodman said. “He’s the most unpopular person in New York politics, and there is no doubt that voters will once again turn out for President Biden in November.”
Pretty sad when you have to count on people hating the opposition rather than loving you.

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
