I should certainly hope so.
First vote: As expected, Elise Stefanik nominated Jim Jordan, and Pete Aguilar nominated Hakeem Jeffries.
Everyone knows who would be the right candidate for the country. Even the Republicans. But any Republican who doesn't vote for Jordan is probably through serving in the House.
One early vote of present changed the totals needed.
Problem votes for Jordan's case:
Kevin McCarthy - 6
Lee Zeldin - 3
Steve Scalise - 7
Mike Garcia - 1
Tom Emmer - 1
Tom Cole - 1
Thomas Massie - 1
Lots of mumbling when those bold votes were cast.
Gym Jordan needed 217.
That should be the end of it. Unfortunately, since the GOP holds the House, they can keep this up until one of them gets enough votes.
