Speaker vote today - Round 2, day 2

Don Bacon, Republican from Nebraska, voted for McCarthy in yesterday's spectacle.

Only the best will do...

Former Speaker John Boehner got a vote this round (from Pennsylvania Representative Mike Kelly), which prompted a commotion that had to be gaveled down by the pro tem speaker.

Rep. Gus Bilirakis was absent yesterday and voted for Jordan today.  But Jordan still got one less vote than yesterday, thanks to Rep. Drew Ferguson (R-GA) switching his vote to Rep. Steve Scalise, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) switching her vote to Rep. Kay Granger, Rep. Pete Stauber (R-MN) switching to Rep. Bruce Westerman, and Vern Buchanan (R-FL) switching to Rep. Byron Donalds.  I don't know which reps switched to Jordan this round, but by the math, there were a couple.*  The list of 22 Republicans who voted against Jordan is here.

The GOP shitshow continues.

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.

*They were Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) and Victoria Spartz (R-IN).

UPDATE 02:01 pm:

If he "feels like his ... candidacy is in good shape," then I think we can expect him to hold at least a third round.*  McCarthy held 15 and finally got the vote.

UPDATE 03:10 pm:  This was the nominating speech for Jim Jordan today.

You wonder why Republicans have to cheat to win elections?

UPDATE 03:58 pm:

I think we'll find out.

*UPDATE 10/19/2023:
