What Trump "thing"?

Neither of those figures is right.

I'm trying to find out what the Trump "thing" is. I don't think he means this:

One of the reasons I frequently find humor involving Trump unfunny is that I remember (among other things) that he is a rapist. Like Hitler jokes, Trump jokes come with an ominous atmosphere. Trump’s many peccadillos might be amusing, endearing even, were it not for his evil. Trump is an evil man the way Adolf Hitler was an evil man. Tony Schwartz, the actual writer of that piece of fiction called “The Art of the Deal,” says Trump is the most evil person he has ever met.

Only the the Trump-beast, the Trump-thing and its appetites, matter.

I think I halfway remember something some time ago (who can tell how long in this era of Trump?) that he claimed someone said you could add 10 to any poll numbers for him, but I can't recall why.

And, really, the "someone" could have been those voices in his head.

Or Rudy Giuliani.

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.

PLAYER: Act natural. You know why you're here at least.

GUILDENSTERN: We only know what we're told, and that's little enough. And for all we know it isn't even true.

PLAYER: For all anyone knows, nothing is. Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions.
