No, the Senate can call witnesses. It's a trial. In the Senate. Like every other impeachment trial in the Senate with witnesses. In fact, this would be the first one without witnesses if none are called.
And you can have witnesses, too. And, actually, Republicans were given witnesses in the House - Volker and Morrison. They just didn't turn out to be ones you hoped they'd be.
What he's saying here is: Remember Republicans, if you vote against the president, your head will be on a pike.
...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
