Trump can't seem to find a loyal toady for the NSC

Andrew Peek, the head of European and Russian affairs at the National Security Council, has left his post three months after he started, people familiar with the situation told Bloomberg Saturday evening.

Sources told the publication that Peek was escorted from the White House Friday.

  The Hill
That sounds serious.
Earlier on Saturday, Axios reported that he had been placed on administrative leave pending a security-related investigation.

Peek joined the NSC in November, coming over from the State Department where he was a deputy assistant secretary.

Peek was reportedly expected to accompany President Trump to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland next week.

Peek's two predecessors, Tim Morrison and Fiona Hill both testified during the House's impeachment proceedings against President Trump.

Peek's departure is the third time in less than a year that the position has been vacant.
Maybe Mulvaney could take on yet another position in addition to his roles as White House Chief of Staff and head of the OMB. Or maybe Trump could just do away with the NSC. He doesn't pay any attention to them anyway.

Peek was a US Army intelligence officer who previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs since 2017.

I wonder if he refused to lie about Trump's Ukraine crimes.  But...escorted from the building.  What was he doing there if he was on administrative leave?  We need some investigative reporting.  There's a story here.
