Today was a good day for justice in America

And we sorely needed it.

Trump was arraigned in Manhattan for crimes there, and in Wisconsin...
Judge Janet Protasiewicz, a liberal, won a heated race for an open Wisconsin Supreme Court seat on Tuesday, shifting the balance of power on the state’s high court from conservatives to liberals for the first time since 2008.

Although Wisconsin’s judicial races are officially nonpartisan, Protasiewicz’s victory over former Supreme Court Justice Daniel Kelly, a conservative, in the most expensive judicial race in U.S. history, is a game-changer for the state’s embattled Democrats.

The new 4-3 liberal majority on the court is expected to strike down a state-level abortion ban that took effect after the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning the federal right to an abortion in June. That law, which dates to 1849, makes performing an abortion a felony punishable by as much as six years in prison.

Assuming that Democrats and their allies challenge the state’s [gerrymandered] maps once again, a majority-liberal court would likely be sympathetic to throwing those maps out as well.

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.

Also, what's encouraging is it wasn't even a close call.
With 59% of the expected vote counted, Protasiewicz had the support of 56% percent of voters, while Kelly had 44% percent.

Democrats in the state, and nationally, described the race as the most important one in the country this year and focused their messaging on emphasizing abortion rights and fair elections — extending a strategy the national party employed last year to fend off a red wave in the House and keep the Senate. The win by Protasiewicz suggests that the strategy continues to pay off for the party — a data point national Democrats will be all but certain to rely on heading into next year’s presidential election.

UPDATE 04/05/2023:

Amen to that, Michael.  And I'm looking at you, Kari Lake.
