It's Sunday

An Irish Catholic priest, of all people, cedes the "war on Christmas."
Father Desmond O’Donnell [registered psychologist and author] said Christians of any denomination need to accept Christmas now has no sacred meaning.

[The] Irish Catholic priest has called for Christians to stop using the word Christmas because it has been hijacked by “Santa and reindeer”.

[...]

“We’ve lost Christmas, just like we lost Easter, and should abandon the word completely,” O’Donnell told the Belfast Telegraph.

“We need to let it go, it’s already been hijacked and we just need to recognise and accept that.”

[...]

“My religious experience of true Christmas, like so many others, is very deep and real – like the air I breathe. But non-believers deserve and need their celebration too, it’s an essential human dynamic and we all need that in the toughness of life.”

O’Donnell’s comments follow calls from a rightwing pressure group for a boycott of Greggs bakery in the UK after the company replaced baby Jesus with a sausage roll in a nativity scene.

[...]

The U.K. Evangelical Alliance said Greggs appeared to be “manufacturing a scandal to sell baked goods.”

Greggs, which will not withdraw the calendar, said: "We're really sorry to have caused any offense, this was never our intention."

In the words of Father O'Donnell: "Let it go."
A British bakery chain has apologized for replacing baby Jesus with a sausage roll in a Christmas advert.

Greggs, which specializes in the popular delicacy, released the promo for its advent calendar featuring a nativity scene with the Three Wise Men who come bearing gifts before a crib containing pastry wrapped around sausage meat.
