It's worse than you hoped

Andrea Mitchell, who has covered presidents since Carter, made a statement on the great pod "Talking Feds" about Biden's disastrous debate that makes everything else people are saying pale in comparison:

"My phone has been ringing since last night. I was up most of the night taking calls, and it was just wild. I've never heard a reaction like that. And we have surmised, because the staff is so protective of him that we don't have opportunities - he doesn't do deep interviews, he doesn't do news conferences - that this is the case [that the debate was not a one-off]. I've noticed that when he's meeting with foreign leaders, including G7 allies, he uses note cards in the Oval Office to say three sentences welcoming a foreign leader."

Biden folks, stop gaslighting us. We're not Republicans.

GUILDENSTERN: What a fine persecution---to be kept intrigued without ever quite being enlightened.

PLAYER: Relax. Respond. That's what people do. You can't go through life questioning your situation at every turn.

GUILDENSTERN: But we don't know what's going on, or what to do with ourselves. We don't know how to act.

PLAYER: Act natural. You know why you're here at least.

GUILDENSTERN: We only know what we're told, and that's little enough. And for all we know it isn't even true.

PLAYER: For all anyone knows, nothing is. Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions.
