Trump isn't the only ignoramus in the GOP

Rep. Steve King praised a fictional Marine Corps colonel on the Fourth of July.

The Iowa Republican appeared to get duped Thursday evening by a Young Turks reporter named Ken Klippenstein, who asked King to give a retweet to his "uncle" Col. Nathan Jessup.

That is a character played by Jack Nicholson in the 1992 film A Few Good Men, which was adapted from a play of the same name by Aaron Sorkin. The tweet included a photo of Nicholson in the role.

"Colonel Jessup and all your Marines: God Bless you all. You have our back and millions of us have yours! God Bless America and all her warriors defending our Liberty!" King said in his retweet, along with signing off on it with his initials.

PLAYER: Act natural. You know why you're here at least.

GUILDENSTERN: We only know what we're told, and that's little enough. And for all we know it isn't even true.

PLAYER: For all anyone knows, nothing is. Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions.
