And in other Russia investigation Mueller probe news, the fame-hungry, inappropriately vocal judge from Manafort's Virginia trial is inserting himself into the news again. The attorneys who represented Rick Gates, before he switched his legal team and reached a plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller, are suing him for allegedly stiffing them for their services up to that point.
Gates has only paid $20,000 of the $388,525.34 the firm billed him, according to the complaint filed Wednesday by the New York-based law firm Doar Rieck Kaley and Mack. Gates never disputed the amount he was billed, the complaint said, and he had promised to pay what he owed.
The law firm is now seeking the remaining $368,525.34 plus interest it says it is owed from Gates. The case was filed in a federal court in Manhattan.

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis signaled he wants to move forward with sentencing Paul Manafort for the eight counts he was convicted of in Virginia this summer, and wants prosecutors to decide whether to retry him on the remaining deadlocked counts, despite Manafort’s plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller putting off such moves pending Manafort’s cooperation.
[...]
“This would be highly unusual,” Ellis said of the terms of the plea agreement, entered in a D.C. federal court last month. Ellis’ characteristically grouchy order set a hearing for Oct. 19 to begin wrapping up the retrial issues and sentencing mechanics in the Virginia case.
“In this District, the government’s decision to re-try a defendant is always made in a timely manner and sentencing occurs within two to no more than four months from entry of a guilty plea or receipt of a jury verdict,” Ellis said.
