Not a headline you might have expected to see in the U.S.

A Senate resolution declaring that the press is not the enemy of the people passed by unanimous consent on Thursday, which “condemns the attacks on the institution of the free press” as an “attack on the democratic institutions of the United States.”

At least it passed unanimously. That it needed to be done should alert us all to the dire state we're in. And if they can pass this unanimously, then they should also be able to take the step of impeaching the fascist president who continues to say the press is the enemy of the people. Of course, they won't.

PLAYER: Act natural. You know why you're here at least.

GUILDENSTERN: We only know what we're told, and that's little enough. And for all we know it isn't even true.

PLAYER: For all anyone knows, nothing is. Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions.
