Ohio prison curbs inmates' ability to read
This prison just barred purchase of used books. Further, inmates are now only permitted to buy from Walmart, Target, Barnes & Noble, or Borders.
This is the Grafton Correctional Institution in Ohio, owned and operated by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction as far as I'm able to ascertain with a quick Google search, so I assume this applies to all state run prisons. The state has sold at least one prison to a private corporation, and have attempted to sell more. And some of them have not been sold, but their management has been turned over to private entitites.
...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
