Well, guess what? That's insurance. And that's how hospitals operate. And that's how Malcolm Bird got a bill from a hospital emergency room for $629 for the service of a doctor putting a bandaid on his child's finger - $7 for the bandaid that fell off in the parking lot, the rest for emergency services cover charge.
As an American with health insurance, you're already paying for socialized medicine. Just a hell of a lot more than you would under single-payer health care.
...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.Two-thirds of bankruptcies in the United States have to do with medical bills — and many of those patients likely had little ability, in advance, to know just how big those bills would be.
