More political violence: mass shooting on campus

We have to snatch and detain students who write pro-Palestine op-eds in campus newspapers or who join protests, but a white supremacist shooter?  He'll get due process.

Two people are dead and a sheriff's deputy's son is in custody after an active shooter was reported at Florida State University's campus in Tallahassee.

The suspect is the 20-year-old son of a sheriff's deputy who had access to one of her weapons, Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil said.

At least six people are being treated at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, a hospital spokesperson said.

An FSU student who saw the shooter described him as a “normal college dude" who was wearing an orange T-shirt and khaki shorts. "I was walking, and this guy pulls up in an orange Hummer," the student said. "And he gets out with a rifle and shoots in my direction."

Revell, the Tallahassee police chief, said of officers’ confrontation with the gunman that they “challenged him and they ended up shooting him. He did not comply with commands and was shot. I do not believe he fired at all.”

The suspect remains in the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell said tonight.

I dare say, if he'd been brown-skinned, he'd be dead.
The shooter was identified by police as Phoenix Ikner, a 20-year-old whose stepmother is a Leon County sheriff's deputy who has worked with the department for over 18 years. Authorities said a former service weapon that belonged to her was recovered at the scene.

Leon County Sheriff Walter McNeil said Ikner was a long-standing member of the Sheriff's Office Youth Advisory Council.
