It's the GOP way.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), the chairman of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, blocked an attempt by Democrats to pass a bill that would require the Trump administration to report new details on how small-business aid is being dispersed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"Some of the demographic data is not on the application. It's not even clear that they would be able to produce that for us unless they stopped the process, created a new application and then began to process that as well," Rubio said.

He added that lawmakers should work with the SBA so administration officials are not "overburdened" by reporting requirements from Congress, warning that added requirements could have "unintended consequences."

PLAYER: Act natural. You know why you're here at least.

GUILDENSTERN: We only know what we're told, and that's little enough. And for all we know it isn't even true.

PLAYER: For all anyone knows, nothing is. Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions.
