He was – in the moment – throwing his support behind tougher ID requirements for voters.
“Only American citizens should vote in American elections. The time has come for voter ID like everything else,” Trump said.

Here's the bad news: No matter if a Democrat becomes president in 2020, we will still be in a country where a huge portion of people like what Donald Trump is and what he's doing. And we'll still have the Republican Party. We're not coming back from this. This is who we are.
