White House will have its own 4th of July event

Whatever happened to that military parade with tanks? Is it still happening?

The White House is adding a live concert on the South Lawn to its annual Fourth of July celebration.

The 90-minute event is made possible by a partnership between the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation. It will feature performances by artists Sara Evans, pianist Lola Astanova, “American Idol” finalists Jax and Jonny Brenns, and the U.S. Marine, Navy and Air Force Bands. The Hallmark Channel will broadcast the show.

PLAYER: Act natural. You know why you're here at least.

GUILDENSTERN: We only know what we're told, and that's little enough. And for all we know it isn't even true.

PLAYER: For all anyone knows, nothing is. Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions.
