Speaking of Austerity Measures

I saw this at Hullaballoo. In theory, and also in practice, I believe democracy is the best form of government. Not that we have it. And frankly, I don't like it. Think about it. The dumber our populace becomes (by design), the worse things would be for us in a true democracy. On the other hand, in the faux democracy we have, with elites running the show, things are getting worse for us by the hour anyway, so maybe it wouldn't be much different.

Still, I do believe a true democracy is the way to go. Even if you've got a bunch of knuckleheads who can't figure out what's good for them (which you DO - look at all the middle and lower class Republican supporters), then maybe they might eventually wise up if left to govern themselves, or at least sort themselves out into coherent groups.

And of course, I could be wrong.

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.

PLAYER: Relax. Respond. That's what people do. You can't go through life questioning your situation at every turn.

GUILDENSTERN: But we don't know what's going on, or what to do with ourselves. We don't know how to act.

PLAYER: Act natural. You know why you're here at least.

GUILDENSTERN: We only know what we're told, and that's little enough. And for all we know it isn't even true.

PLAYER: For all anyone knows, nothing is. Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions.
