Don't Hold Your Breath

Congress is looking at a new, tougher law to block senators and its members from using information picked up in committees, reports and briefings to play the stock market – essentially insider trading.

Data shows that nearly 1,536 members of Congress outperform the stock market by about six to 10 per cent on a regular basis.

Hmmm…insider trading is illegal for most people. I’m guessing that it’s going to be hard to enact tougher laws when those doing the enacting are the ones skirting the laws. This particular bill has been in the wings for five years. I have a feeling it will be there a few more.

It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress. – Mark Twain

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
