January 6 hearings - Number 5

If you missed it, you can watch the whole thing on YouTube (I like C-SPAN because they don't have commentators), or you can see highlights at Aaron Rupar's Twitter account.

Begin here:

I read somewhere that the Committee is getting a lot more witnesses coming forward and that they'll continue the hearings "later in July."

This 5th hearing is another one I think should have been shown primetime.

Both good, and surprising:

Consciousness of guilt in a big way:
Testimony from Trump aides named Reps. Matt Gaetz (Fla.) Mo Brooks (Ala.) Louie Gohmert (Texas), Andy Biggs (Ariz.), and Scott Perry (PA.) as seeking pardons.

An aide also said that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) contacted the White House Counsel’s office seeking a pardon.

  The Hill
The usual suspects.

Expect Jeffrey Clark to be the scapegoat.
Federal law enforcement this week searched the home of Jeffrey Clark, the former Department of Justice (DOJ) official accused of trying to use the agency to pursue former President Trump’s election fraud allegations.

Clark’s suburban Virginia home was searched on Wednesday, a day before the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack was set to hear from former DOJ officials about the internal strife in the Trump administration following the 2020 election.

  The Hill
...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
