January 6 investigators reveal what you already know

“Evidence and information available to the Committee establishes a good-faith belief that Mr. Trump and others may have engaged

in criminal and/or fraudulent acts,” the committee said in a court filing. “The Select Committee also has a good-faith basis for concluding that the President and members of his Campaign engaged in a criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States.”

The actual import of the filing is not clear, however, as lawmakers do not have the power to bring criminal charges on their own and can only make a referral to the US Department of Justice. The department has been investigating last year’s riot, but it has not given any indication that it is considering seeking charges against Trump.

PLAYER: Act natural. You know why you're here at least.

GUILDENSTERN: We only know what we're told, and that's little enough. And for all we know it isn't even true.

PLAYER: For all anyone knows, nothing is. Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions.
