Bill to expand Supreme Court

U.S. Sen. Edward Markey is making his case to expand the U.S. Supreme Court by introducing legislation that would add four justices to the bench.

That'll set GOP hair on fire.
Markey [...] is teaming up with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., on legislation to load up the bench with four more justices. U.S. Reps. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., and U.S. Rep. Mondaire Jones, D-N.Y., are also involved.

Markey’s move comes in response to former President Donald Trump and Senate Republicans replacing the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg mere weeks before the 2020 presidential election with a justice who tipped the top court’s balance to the right.

As Markey put it: “Republicans stole the Court’s majority, with Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation completing their crime spree.”

[...]

He’s also calling to abolish the Senate filibuster to pass it.

Markey is introducing his legislation less than a week after Biden announced a bipartisan commission to study Supreme Court reforms — including expanding the bench.

But Biden has said he’s “not a fan” of court-packing. And while he’s said the filibuster is currently being “abused,” the president is advocating for a return to a “talking filibuster” to start.

And Justice Stephen Breyer recently warned those eyeing changes like court-packing to “think long and hard” about their calls.

Markey and Jones plan to advance their agenda by rallying liberal activists during a Demand Justice-led organizing call this weekend that will urge volunteers to call their congresspeople in support of the expanding the court.
Of course, here in Missouri, your congresspeople don't give a shit what you want.

Besides, they won't get past Nancy Pelosi.

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
