As You Might Expect

Paraphrasing Mark Twain and Emma Goldman: If our vote mattered, they wouldn't let us do it.

I'll take suggestions/bets as to when the US does away with voting completely. Keep in mind that the younger generations coming up now who are just becoming voters are a whole new ballgame where politics is concerned.

At any rate, as of this particular election cycle, we DO get a whole year of dog and pony shows, and .... SPECTACLE!

P.S. And do those other nobodies on the debate stage already know they were just there to make it appear there's an entire field of Democrat candidates? They're wasting money - but who cares? It's not their money. Any bets as to when/whether old Joe Biden will pop in? If he does, I'm guessing that will indeed happen; that Hillary's been offered the gig temporarily (perhaps - likely -unbeknownst to her). The whole show is like a professional wrestling match - choreographed for our entertainment. SPECTACLE! We love it. We need it.

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.

GUILDENSTERN: What a fine persecution---to be kept intrigued without ever quite being enlightened.

PLAYER: Relax. Respond. That's what people do. You can't go through life questioning your situation at every turn.

GUILDENSTERN: But we don't know what's going on, or what to do with ourselves. We don't know how to act.

PLAYER: Act natural. You know why you're here at least.

GUILDENSTERN: We only know what we're told, and that's little enough. And for all we know it isn't even true.

PLAYER: For all anyone knows, nothing is. Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions.
