The Drone Papers

Journalist Jeremy Scahill is intereviewed on Democracy Now! about the latest Intercept report.  Watch it here.

Scahill discusses the reporting, the content of the report, and the US drone policy in general and specifics.  Within his recounting of egregious/outrageous acts of criminality therein, he includes the revelation that drone operations are okayed even on the basis of someone having "an Arab appearance."  One of the distinguishing characteristics of "an Arab appearance" in the region is height, the Arabs being considered taller.

In one instance, a drone strike was made on an individual deemed a viable target because he was taller than the people surrounding him.  All were killed, as unfortunately our smart bombs are precise, but they're not precise enough to take out a single person in a group.  Also, unfortunately, it turned out the man was actually of average height, and the people around him were children.
