UPDATE 04:01 pm:
Russian state media outlet RT mocked President Donald Trump’s warning on Tuesday that he was stopping “really bad” things from happening to Russia.
[...]
The Kremlin replied to Trump calling Putin crazy over the weekend with a statement highlighting the “emotional overload” of the war. “We are really grateful to the Americans and to President Trump personally for their assistance in organizing and launching this negotiation process,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said of Trump’s post, adding, “This is a very crucial moment, which is associated, of course, with the emotional overload of everyone absolutely and with emotional reactions.”
Trump has been widely praised by Russian propaganda in the past, with a Russian TV host recently saying he deserves a “medal” for his weeping global tariffs. “The price of goods will certainly go up in the United States. The old political and economic global system is practically dead,” a commentator said in early April on the Russian program The Evening With Vladimir Solovyov.
Host Vladimir Solovyov replied, “Trump destroyed the trust” — and called for a statue to be built in his honor. A monument should be erected to him. This was a major blow to the system of capitalism… I think he deserves at least a Sutulov medal.”
