The party's over. It was a short night compared to the previous three. The one thing that stood out for me was the Central Park Five appearance (there are only four of them alive now), and Yusef Salaam saying we have to elect Kamala and say goodbye to "that hateful man."
Elizabeth Warren got several minutes of raucus ovation when she came out on stage. Good. She deserves it.
I did think Rev Al Sharpton made a faux pas when he said when Kamala gets elected "we're gonna do a job on them like the job they did on us." I wish he hadn't said it. If you don't think MAGA is going to run with that, you haven't been paying attention. It sounds like retribution, and I think that's one thing that scares white men more than anything about minorities - if they get power, they'll repay whites in kind.
Yep. That was the long and short of it. And she sounded very "presidential".
The night opened with a nice intro to Kamala video.
What can I say?
Yes, and I thought the same thing. What did Jimi Hightower say? "There's nothing in the middle of the road but yellow stripes and dead armadillos."
I also thought: well, we're not ready to quit being the world's policeman or giving Israel arms. But, I'll take it over having Trump take over the country again.
And, almost as important is turning all of Congress into a Democratic block.
UPDATE 04:26 pm:
The kid did a damn fine job of dealing with Lindell's very aggressive Gish Gallop. And, WTF? Lindell shaved off his signature (30 years) mustache, donned dark glasses and a hat to "disguise" himself to go into the DNC hallways. LOL.
UPDATE 08/24/2024: Compare and contrast acceptance speech optics.
