And there goes another one

Gallagher, a four-term lawmaker who is considered a rising star within the GOP, announced last month that he would not seek reelection. But Friday, he said he would leave the House on April 19.

[...]

Earlier this year, he also made headlines for being one of three Republicans to vote against impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

[...]

Gallagher’s departure will leave House Republicans with 217 members to Democrats’ 213, meaning Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) can afford to lose only one vote on any bill that doesn’t have Democratic support.

If Johnson remains Speaker.
His announcement came shortly after the House passed its final fiscal year 2024 funding bill after months of dramatic negotiations, and after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) filed a motion to oust the Speaker.

[...]

Last week, Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.), who had announced his retirement earlier this year, said he would leave Washington before the end of his term. Friday is his last day.

[...]

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), 54, a 20-year veteran who currently chairs the powerhouse Energy and Commerce Committee, has announced her intent to leave Congress at the end of this term, along with Reps. Kay Granger (R-Texas), who heads Appropriations, and Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), the chair of the Financial Services panel.
...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
