Why Schiff doesn't want public testimony

Is that why Sondland gave a preview of his testimony to a colleague to make public?

However, I have no doubt Republicans on the Committee will have no problem leaking the info to the White House, which would ultimately have the same effect.

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
