I'm willing to bet Maguire talked to Trump about the claim

Maguire at one point when asked about something* between himself and the president said  he couldn't give specifics, but he could categorically deny that the president instructed him to do something.  But any time he was asked whether he talked directly to Trump about the whistleblower complaint, his only response was that he talks to the president a lot during the course of his job, but he can't reveal anything because of executive privilege.

Here's Schiff trying one more time...

...and giving up.

*UPDATE:  It was whether Trump asked him to identify the whistleblower:

Every other time when asked about talking with Trump, he claimed executive privilege.

Here's Jim Himes trying and failing to get the answer.
