Glenn Andreotta was one of two crewmen (the other was Larry Colburn) in the helicopter piloted by Hugh Thompson Jr. who saved the lives of Vietnamese victims of the My Lai massacre by putting themselves between US soldiers and their victims. Thompson, Andreotta and Colburn were eventually awarded medals for their heroism, but Glenn's was posthumous, as he was killed April 8, 1968, four months after enlisting, in a crash in Quang Ngai province. Sadly for Andreotta, he died being reviled as a traitor by fellow servicemen for his actions under Thompson's command at My Lai on March 16, 1968.
RIP, Glenn Andreotta. You're a hero to many.
