Inhumane Treatment of Migrants in Paris

As homeless migrants struggle to keep warm in below-freezing temperatures in Paris, police are stealing their blankets and dispersing them with tear gas, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has warned, accusing officers of "systematic police violence."

The October closure of the notorious 'Jungle' migrant camp in Calais has also led to an influx of migrants sleeping rough on the streets of the French capital. ‘Tent cities’ were quickly erected following the shutdown of the camp, with President Francois Hollande ordering police to clear them as they were “not worthy” of France and could not be “tolerated.”

Meanwhile, French Interior Minister Bruno Le Roux has defended the authorities, urging an end to the "national sport of questioning" police work.
