There's more than one way to look at this, and one of them is: he had to, didn't he? People were asking why, if it were possibly true, had Obama not ordered an investigation? Surely Russia interfering with our presidential elections is a big damned deal.President Barack Obama has ordered a full review into hacking by the Russians aimed at influencing US elections going back to 2008, the White House said Friday.

Another way to view it is: he was probably getting pressure from the Democratic Party to do it so that Hillary's team didn't look like total fakers that the president himself didn't even believe.
And yet another: he could hardly let it be said that John McCain and Lindsay Graham were responsible for cleaning up what his administration wouldn't.
And yet, whatever the reason, people are going to believe what they want. When was the last time the government performed any kind of investigation that was roundly believed on both sides? Post-9/11, Iraq has WMD, therefore we have to invade? And how did that turn out? No lies there, eh?
I'm not sure why anyone still insists the government investigate anything. To waste more time and money and distract from whatever else is going on?
That's pretty damned quick. Sounds like a signal the whole exercise is just to shut people up.The review is intended to be done before Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20, Monaco said. "[The president] expects to get a report prior to him leaving office."
They don't even bother to pretend.Monaco said the administration would be mindful of the consequences of revealing the results of their review publicly, and Schultz said they will make public "as much as we can."
...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
