Trump coup attorney Lin Wood is a special kind of crazy

Wood is said to have called himself the representative of various Biblical figures.

“I represent Moses,” Wood allegedly declared on tape. “I represent Ananias the believer. I’m like the power of King David. Now look you all, I told you I was going to pray tonight to my God, not to myself, because to me there’s God and there’s me.”

The quotations came to light during contentious litigation between Wood and his former partners Nicole Wade, Jonathan Grunberg, and Taylor Wilson, who broke up from L. Lin Wood, P.C. earlier this year to start their own firm Wade, Grunberg & Wilson, LLC.

When they filed their lawsuit on Aug. 30, this year’s presidential election had still been months away, and Wood was known for representing Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse and QAnon adherent Marjorie Taylor Greene, who was then a congressional candidate. Wood previously had a long history with high-profile clients like the parents of JonBenet Ramsey and Richard Jewell, whose name he cleared in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics bombing.

The former partners claimed that their relationship with Wood spanning roughly half a decade started deteriorating late last year as Wood began to exhibit “erratic, hostile, abusive, and threatening” behavior.

“In the Fall of 2019, defendant Wood also committed assault and battery on Grunberg in an elevator of a hotel during an out of town deposition,” they wrote in their complaint, which also alleges that Wood attacked Wilson. “In both assaults, there was essentially no reason whatsoever for the attack, and defendant Wood later acknowledged and apologized for this violence.”

What’s more, the partners claim, Wood admitted to those assaults on tape.

The partners want a Georgia judge to enforce the terms of a settlement agreement signed in March 2020, which they claim Wood fraudulently induced them into signing and then refused to pay what he owed.

Earlier this month, a Delaware judge found that [Wood] may have violated professional rules for conduct in Wisconsin and Georgia, including by filing [an election challenge] lawsuit without a plaintiff’s authorization, submitting a false affidavit, and making a series of errors that could verge upon incompetence. Wood previously denied those allegations and told Law&Crime he is seeking a lawyer to fight them in court.

Wood was also the recent recipient of a letter from Dominion Voting Systems, demanding that he preserve documents and warning of imminent litigation. Smartmatic has threatened litigation as well.

He's just going to veto everything

Today his veto of the military budget bill was overridden, so he's going for something else.

President Trump on Friday vetoed a bill that would gradually eliminate the use of large-scale driftnet fishing in federal waters off the coast of California.

[T]he Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said that any distillery that had switched to producing hand sanitizer during the pandemic this year would owe thousands of dollars in fees, and could be charged twice if they do not cease production immediately.

Fortunately, HHS is against it.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Thursday said it is taking action to prevent distilleries that produce hand sanitizer during the pandemic from being hit with an unexpected $14,000 fee.Many craft-brewing distilleries switched production to non-consumable alcohol in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and a shortage of the product's availability in the spring.

HHS officials said they first became aware of the fees this week and held an emergency meeting in response. They later instructed the FDA not to collect the fees.

Under the now-voided rule, distilleries would have been forced to shut down production of hand sanitizer on Thursday and notify the federal government of their change in status in order to avoid paying the same fee in 2022 as well.

“Given all that’s happened in 2020, the timing of this news could not be worse. The $14,000 fee being assessed could certainly put many of these small family owned businesses out of business," he said.

“Everyone was totally blindsided by FDA’s announcement and as a result, craft distillers across the country are scrambling to understand and respond," McDaniel added.

The Whitestone Republican Club held an indoor holiday party at Queen’s, N.Y., restaurant called Il Bacco.

Footage of the party went viral after it showed maskless attendees getting into a conga line. Vickie Paladino, a GOP candidate for New York City Council, is seen at one point leading the dance.

At least three people who attended the party have tested positive for the virus since the party.

In a statement the State Liquor Authority said, “After video surfaced of a potential superspreader holiday party at Il Bacco with maskless dancing, the SLA immediately launched an investigation.”

The liquor authority added, “During a follow-up inspection, investigators found flagrant violations of indoor dining regulations and existing health safety and Alcoholic Beverage Control laws, while verifying the maskless party depicted in the video did in fact occur.

The Whitestone Republican Club defended the party following the footage release.

"Defending our personal liberties is paramount in a free society, and no one should be penalized, shamed, or ostracized for how they choose to live their life,” said the club in a statement.

They should absolutely be penalized if they're putting other people's lives at risk. They obviously can't be shamed.

Ohio heading back to the dark ages

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R ) signed a bill Wednesday that will require any aborted tissue to be either buried or cremated, leaving the decision to either the female patient or the clinic and penalizing whoever fails to decide.

The bill signed on Wednesday also states, “the pregnant woman is responsible for the costs related to the final disposition of the fetal remains at the chosen location.”

Those who are found to have failed to meet the requirements defined in the bill are subject to face, “a misdemeanor of the first degree.” If cremation is chosen as the form of disposal then the remains must either be placed in a "grave, crypt, or niche" or scattered in a "dignified manner."

Molly Smith with The Right to Life Action Coalition of Ohio said in a statement, “Although we work for a day when no unborn child in Ohio is killed by abortion, we recognize that, at the very least, accounting for those precious bodies, and for their humane disposition is necessary.”

The incident happened over the weekend at the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, north of Milwaukee. Grafton police announced the arrest of the pharmacist Thursday, but did not name the man or identify a motive.

Police in Grafton, about 20 miles north of Milwaukee, said the Advocate Aurora Health pharmacist was arrested on suspicion of reckless endangerment, adulterating a prescription drug and criminal damage to property, all felonies. The pharmacist has been fired and police said in a news release that he was in jail.

Advocate Aurora Health Care Chief Medical Group Officer Jeff Bahr told reporters during a teleconference Thursday afternoon that the pharmacist deliberately removed 57 vials that held hundreds of doses of the Moderna vaccine from refrigeration at a Grafton medical center overnight on Dec. 24 into Dec. 25, returned them, then left them out again on the night of Dec. 25 into Saturday. The vials contained enough doses to inoculate 570 people.

The Senate on Friday joined the House to override President Donald Trump’s veto of a sweeping military policy bill, delivering the first such blow to Trump just weeks before he leaves office.

The Senate voted 81 to 13 to approve the $741 billion National Defense Authorization Act, achieving the two-thirds majority required to defeat the veto. The House overrode the veto on Monday by a vote of 322-87. As a result, the legislation will become law.

Trump vetoed the measure on Dec. 23 after lawmakers refused to include his request to add a provision repealing an internet liability law known as Section 230 that protects social media companies. The previous eight vetoes issued by Trump had been allowed to stand.

Georgia may never recover from Trump's shitshow

The president of the Georgia chapter of the NAACP said Wednesday that he is resigning from a bipartisan election task force formed by Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to improve voting policies because the process is a “farce.”

The Rev. James Woodall told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he’s participated in weekly meetings with dozens of other community leaders, elections experts and politicians to review policies and suggest improvements but that “nothing has happened” with their recommendations.

“It’s all for show,” he said in an interview. “He’s trying to play both sides.”

Woodall said he’s long been frustrated with the committee, but that he decided to resign after Raffensperger criticized a judge’s ruling Monday that rejected challenges to the eligibility of more than 4,000 Georgia voters. Raffensperger, a Republican, called the decision a “direct attack on the rule of law in Georgia.

“The latest attempt to disenfranchise eligible Georgia voters flies in the face of the integrity of safe, secure and accessible elections,” he said. “And that’s why I can no longer participate in such a farce.”
