Manafort is looking to go away for a very long time

Or else, he's looking for a pardon.

In a three-page filing, Mr. Mueller’s office alleged that Mr. Manafort, who pleaded guilty to conspiring against the U.S. and obstruction of justice and agreed to cooperate with Mr. Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, repeatedly lied to investigators after his plea.

In the same filing, Mr. Manafort disputed Mr. Mueller’s characterization of his cooperation and said he met with the government “on numerous occasions and answered the government’s questions.”

The filing added that Mr. Manafort “believes he has provided truthful information and does not agree with the government’s characterization or that he has breached the agreement.”

Both sides asked the judge to set a sentencing date. The filing says Mr. Mueller’s team would file a detailed submission that describes what it called Mr. Manafort’s “crimes and lies” at a later date.
