Trump rally in Minnesota

As always, grateful to Daniel Dale for tweeting it.

Trump says he has presided over "the biggest comeback" in U.S. history. He cites the good jobs numbers and other data. He says, "The radical Democrats want to take it all away." He says electing Democrats will mean people's 401Ks are "cut in half" and there will be much crime.

Trump makes reference to what's going in Washington. There is a raucous "drain the swamp/drain that swamp" chant. Trump asks people to turn and look at the media. He says, "If we could ever get them on our side, we'd win for a thousand years."

If he wants them on their side, he's been going about it all wrong.

Trump: "America is being respected again all over the world, right now, and we're going to keep it that way forever." Global opinion of the U.S. has plummeted since he took office.

The president is talking about the size of various rally crowds he has recently had.

Trump, whose campaign chairman, deputy chairman, personal lawyer and national security adviser have been convicted during his time in office, keeps calling Democrats "the party of crime." He is referring to their positions on immigration.

Trump says of Tina Smith and Al Franken: "Nobody knows who the hell she is...she was appointed...she took a wacky guy's place...he was wacky. Boy did he fold up like a wet rag. Man. Man. He was gone so fast...I don't want to mention Al Franken's name, so I won't mention."

Trump refers to Schumer, Pelosi, and "low-IQ Maxine Waters. Low-IQ person."

Trump says he's not sure if he's ever heard Sen. Tina Smith's name. He says "there's no reason" for him to know her name because she doesn't vote with him anyway.

Trump refers to The Wall. There is a Build That Wall chant. Trump lies that he has started The Wall. Trump says "I'm good at building."

Trump suddenly rises to a shout: "TINA SMITH THAT NOBODY EVER HEARD OF NEEDS TO BE VOTED OUT OF OFFICE. She got appointed, I guess."

Trump mocks Tina Smith for voting against Kavanaugh, given that he was #1 in his class at Yale and then at Yale Law, though he was not #1 in his class at either Yale or Yale Law. "I think she's lookin' for a better student," he says.

Trump: "If Democrats take charge, Maxine Waters will also: now listen to this one, she's going to take over Financial Services in Congress. Can you believe it? Maxine Waters." That's his second warning in Minnesota about Waters, a California congresswoman and a Black woman.

Trump, with an egregious lie, promises to "take care of" pre-existing conditions protections and adds: "Some of the Democrats have been talking about ending pre-existing conditions." His administration is in court seeking to get those protections in the ACA declared void.

Trump on, I think, how he'll take care of people with pre-existing conditions: "We'll get a little more money from China. It'll be just fine."

Trump begins attacking Keith Ellison, then gets diverted to boast about how Ellison predicted on TV that he'd win (Ellison didn't quite go that far, just said it was possible), then returns to criticize Ellison for wearing an “I don't believe in borders" shirt.

"We've added nearly half a million manufacturing jobs," Trump says. It was 348,000 as of the last jobs report in early September.

Trump says Japanese PM Abe told him many Japanese car companies would invest in the US, and "I said no no that's not good enough, ALL of them have to come back, ALL. And he's going to do that." That makes no sense

For the fifth time, Trump lies that he had "32,000 people" at his election-eve 2016 rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The room had a capacity of 4,200; local news estimated another 4-5K outside.

Trump, citing unemployment data, says, "So think of this: how does your African-American: how do ya vote for somebody else?" He claims that "African-Americans are coming up and they're saying, 'Mr. President, thank you. Thank you.'" He does not say they had tears in their eyes.

For about the 30th time (I'm not up to date), Trump falsely claims that Asian-American unemployment is at a record low; it was lower at the end of the Obama era. For about the 30th time, Trump falsely claims women's unemployment is lowest in 65 years; it's 18 years.

Which brings up the point:  why does he lie about things like that?  Eighteen years is good!

Trump says he told Saudi King Salman, "Do you mind paying for the military? Do you mind? PAY!" He says Salman told him, "But nobody's ever asked me." He says Salman "will do it."

Trump is doing his usual media criticism over how his North Korea summit and Putin meeting were covered. "It's the fake news. Fake news." He says, "These people are LOCO." He adds, "They are fake."

"If we can ever get these people on our side..."

"We've mostly obliterated Obamacare," Trump lies. He adds nonsensically, "We're stuck with it, but it's obliterated."

Trump exaggerates the impact of the Right to Try law, saying of experimental medicines before the law: "You couldn't get it. There was no way of getting it. No way in a million years." The FDA, according to Trump's FDA chief, had approved 99% of requests for these drugs.

Trump lies that he came up with the idea for the Veterans Choice program that lets vets see private doctors: "44 years they've been trying to get it...I came back, 'I've got the greatest idea...I've got the greatest idea.'" This program was created in 2014, was signed by Obama.

"They say it's the largest trade deal ever made," Trump lies of a thing nobody says other than him.

Trump boasts that despite his dismay with the NFL he got Canada to change its policy on Super Bowl commercials. (It's complicated but this is true.) "And now the NFL is so happy it's all worked out." He says much money is going to go to the players, "and they'll still hate me."

Trump says Roger Goodell called him, and he thought it was to plead with him to leave the NFL alone over the anthem, but really it was to thank him for getting Canada to change its commercials policy. He says it took him merely "two minutes."

I'd check with Roger Goodell to see if there was a call.

Trump says voting for Republicans is a "vote to reject the Democrat politics of anger, division and destruction."

Trump says twice that his 2016 campaign was "the greatest movement in the history of our country." Does anyone know of any other American movements

...but hey, do what you want...you will anyway.
