Free SUNY University Online News Literacy Course

I learned of this six-week online course, which can be audited for no charge, through a Bill Moyers newsletter and signed up.  I have no idea whether I'll think it's worth my time or not at the end, and I think I'm already a pretty good discerner/evaluator of what's presented as news, but going on the premise that a citizen can't be over-educated, I'm going to check it out.

Here's the link to check it out for yourself if you wish.  It begins February 6.

This six-week course will help learners develop their critical thinking skills to enable them to better identify reliable information in news reports and to become better informed about the world in which we live. The course will discuss the key elements of journalism from the viewpoint of the news audience.
