Some Ohio Movie-Goers Didn't Know How Lucky They Were

A 37-year-old Ohio man was arrested last weekend after bringing a gun into a late night screening of “The Dark Knight Rises,” police said.

The suspect, Scott A. Smith, allegedly went into a Regal Cinema in Crocker Park, Ohio on Saturday night before anyone else, carrying a satchel containing a gun, several magazines and three knives. Then he sat down in the middle of the theater’s back row — a seat officers said gave him a “tactical advantage” over potential victims.

That caught the eye of an off-duty police officer inside the lobby, who notified the theater’s management.

When the officer and theater management confronted the man and asked to look inside his bag, he allegedly consented. Smith was then arrested after his firearm was discovered. Authorities later said he was not licensed for concealed carry, adding that they discovered a bullet-proof vest in his vehicle along with eight more firearms and a gas mask inside his home.
