"We know the Trump administration is "flooding the zone" with unconstitutional and authoritarian acts. Congress MUST resist. You, our representatives, are all we have between us and the collapse of democracy. Trump's late night attempt to fire nearly all the Inspectors General he can by law fire, without following the actual requirements of the law, is unacceptable. This is without a doubt one of the most dangerous actions he is taking. It's clear he intends to cross any and all lines that would otherwise restrict the rampant corruption intended for his second term. Every line in the sand he crosses without stiff resistance from Democrats in Congress is a loss for democracy. Please take whatever action you can to deter him, even if it's the smallest of resistance actions that in the end do not prevail. Our country and our future are in your Congressional hands now. We WILL take note of who is helping us and who is sitting on their thumbs. I beg you to help."
UPDATE 01/28/2025:
As things get measurably worse every single day of Trump 2.0, I have once again written to my representatives. This time, I sent the following to Durbin, Tammy Duckworth, and Bill Foster:
"As your constituent, I have to rely on you to be my voice in our very fragile and at-risk democracy. Please do everything you can to block the tyranny and lawlessness of the Trump administration. As long as we can still vote - and have fair elections - in this country, your constituents will look to you for action in maintaining our hard-won rights and desires to help our fellow citizens, and to hold on to our democracy. Thank you for all your efforts to date, and now, we need you even more. Please help us."
